My Backyard Bunny Family
There is a bunny family living in the yard. The mother has built her borough directly under my sacred circle. You can see some of the rocks that mark the perimeter of the circle in the first photo. Since she had the wisdom to build in such an auspicious place, I take care to see that she is safe and well fed. I leave food for her in the winter, when she has a hard time finding her tasty branches to nibble on. And it also saves my shrubs from being munched!

Mama bunny was a good mother. She would take her baby to my basil to eat; how thoughtful of her! And then she would hide on the far side of the yard, keeping watch over her little tot, making sure he was safe. If there was a loud noise or any sudden movement out in the yard, she would instantly appear and run around, causing any prey to follow her and avoid her baby.

Baby Bunny is Eating my Basil
Baby bunny particularly favored my herb garden, eating basil regularly. He also very much enjoyed the anonymous weed to the left of the herbs, which spared some of my plants. He was quite easily spooked during his early days in the garden, and would run into the cedar hedge at the slightest disturbance. But as the weeks passed he had learned to tell friend from foe, and could be seen leisurely resting in the grass.
