Ghost Cat
This is a true
story about Ladybug the cat. Well,
she was a cat. Now she is
here as the spirit of her old self.
She’s a ghost cat. Ladybug’s owner
is an 88-year old frisky, active lady, named Bunny, who lived in Florida
for a long time. But a few
years ago she decided to move north to stay with her daughter, Liz, in
Canada, and of course she brought Ladybug with her.
Bunny and Ladybug had been together for 18 years, through
thick and thin, and they were pretty close. Dear Ladybug passed
away this summer, and everybody was very sad. But she has come
back for a visit! Before I
continue...... I should mention that I drove to the town where Bunny and
Liz now live, a couple weeks before these interesting events with
Ladybug transpired. Liz and
I were planning to do prayers and healing rituals. She and I may
be the only two people in the country with the powerful Indra rudraksha
malas (necklaces)--tools capable of making some positive changes in the
environment. So we felt we should join forces for the betterment
of humankind. And, true to our hopes and wishes, many of us here
have seen some important, positive changes.
But we also saw some funny and unexpected things, too, and this
story is about one of them. On Tuesday December
5, Bunny went out for groceries, leaving her room in its usual pristine
condition. Her daughter, Liz, was home, and so she took that
opportunity to burn some sage and incense, and freshen the house.
She went through all the rooms in her home, including Bunny's, and
everything was in perfect order. When Bunny came
back home, she went to her room to discover a huge tangle of
fresh white toilet paper in the middle of her bedroom floor! The
trail lead round the corner, through the small alcove, into her private
bathroom, over the toilet seat, and up to the roll of paper on the wall.
She immediately called her daughter to come and see this spectacle, and
when Liz arrived, the roll of paper was still spinning and unraveling
paper everywhere. They stood
transfixed! No words came. Just total astonishment at the
view before them, which was still in progress. Both Liz and Bunny
instantly had the strongest feeling it was their cat, who had come
back to visit, and to make her presence known. Ladybug was not
fond of doing this sort of attention-getting, crazy thing in her later
years. But then again, she was an old cat when she left, and now
in her new astral body, she is light and frisky, just like her old self.
The inner-kitten in her wanted to have some fun. Ladybug was in her
element, but she didn't stop there! Among Bunny's groceries was a
packet of English biscuits. After their surprise with Ladybug and
the T.P. incident, Bunny sat down with a pot of tea and looked for her
biscuits (Bunny is from England, and she likes tea and biscuits in the
afternoon). They were nowhere to be found, but everyone remembered
seeing them come into the house in her bags. Bunny and Liz scoured
the place high and low to find nothing.
Liz even went down
to the basement to see if they might have gotten packed up with the
empty grocery bags. Nothing! But while she was down there,
rummaging through corners, out of nowhere she heard a crash from
upstairs. She raced up the stairs to see a perfect box of English
biscuits sitting nicely in the middle of the kitchen floor. Bunny came rushing
in, too. They looked at one another and realized that Ladybug had
pulled the box over to her side of the veil, and then sent it back
again. Mmmmm….. English cookies make a very acceptable treat for
the ghost cat! Now this story may
sound strange to some, but when you think about the prayer work done in
that home just a couple weeks beforehand, it does not seem so odd.
Many years ago when I was studying sacred texts with my teacher, she
told us that it takes two or more people to open a portal to the other
side. One person cannot do it alone. There are many types of
portals, and it is not wise to try creating one if you don't know what
you are doing because you could inadvertently let in undesirable things.
Liz and I had no
intention of opening a portal; we were simply doing our prayers and
sacred work in innocence, and with good intentions. But
considering we wore our two holy Indra malas, in the same place at the
same time, it is conceivable that we did indeed, open a beneficial door
to the other side. Astrologers know
that certain planetary events precipitate deaths, births, and other
important events. This happens because solstices, equinoxes,
planetary stations, and eclipses, have the power to open portals.
When you get two or three planetary events occurring at the same time,
it can allow someone to die from this body and pass on to the next level
of existence. When my Mother passed away last year, we were right
on the Spring Equinox, and Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn were all
stationing within days. Without these celestial events, the doors are all closed.
So, why now?
Why did Ladybug not identify herself sooner?
Perhaps because the prayers and energy-healing work done by my
friend and myself, augmented by our powerful rudraksha malas, opened a
great portal to us all. Perhaps.
We may not know for
sure, but there is reason to think that something has changed.
My experience with spirit cats is that they do not stay around
for long—maybe a year or so-- just long enough to bring comfort to
their owners. And because
they remember the people they have loved, they often come back for a
visit for their own benefit. Sometimes
they just like to play and sometimes they come to reassure us that they
are still with us and love us. I
also lost a cat this year and she came to me in dreamsmpace about a
month after she passed. It
was a great comfort to see her and ‘talk’ with her and it provided
closure. I dedicate this
little story to all those who have lost someone—a mother, a father, a
friend, or a beloved pet.
